Using a JD 60 on a V rake with a remote cylinder with one hose.
It has power trol has couplers in both holes, no plugs. The ram works slowly, and tractor hydraulics squeals. Do I need to put a plug in one hole? Does the metering screw need to be adjusted?

The power troll on the 2 cylinder tractor was not made for single acting cylinders so you are blowing relif valvr trying that. Install a double acting cylinder, at least that was the way with the A & B tractors and I think the 60 is the same.

You need a blank plug for the top hole. As far as squealing the relief valve goes, it wont hurt the hydraulics to squeal it as long as you only do it for a few seconds to lower the cylinder. The only weakness might be wearing out the hydraulic pump idler shaft a little sooner. We had a loader on our 630 for 39 years and we squealed the relief valve many, many times for up to ten seconds at a time without problems. The 630 does have pressure oiling to the hydraulic pump idler shaft though.

If you have an owners manual it should show you an adjustment for the single hose, almost positive I did it on the 630.

The single hose must be plugged into the bottom port as that is the supply port, should work fine if everything is as the other have stated. Would help us to know what kind of cylinder you are using.
