I bought a jd6415 with only 1100 hrs and was using a 15 ft batwing to clip pastures. My pto seal went out and was pouring hydraulic fluid out. Upon inspection it appears there is a considerable amount of play in the shaft. Jd mechanic says it could be the support bearing. But hes to busy to come look at it. Anybody know how I can diagnose without tearing apart. I have a video but not sure how to post it. Thanks for your help in advance.

If it has play there's no way to repair it without taking it apart.

Might as well just pull the PTO unit off of the tractor and be done with it, find out for sure what's wrong and repair it at the same time.

Does it have the dual speed PTO?

About a year ago I repaired a 6430 that had a loose PTO shaft because the splines on the reversible shaft and the "socket" that it plugs in to were both badly worn from the PTO pump on a hay crimper hanging from it.

Yes it has the reversible shaft. With only 1100 hours and only having a bush hog hooked to it I would hope nothing wore out.
