JD 2510 steering valve

I plan to replace the steering valve that connects to the steering wheel shaft on my JD 2510 Has anyone tried the hydrostatic conversion valve (Part # SV4020-N). I can't decide between that and a rebuilt factory valve, both similar priced, around $1000. I would appreciate any advice from someone who has done this. My tractor steers to the right but not to the left and pulls the engine down when I try to turn left. I talked to a mechanic and he said he has found that a plate is usually cracked inside the valve and costs about as much as a rebuilt steering valve. Thanks

Yes I can rebuild it here and bench test it to prove it is correct $380 parts and labor, plus shipping they weigh 74 pounds. [email protected]

It looks like you really know what you're doing with your shop setup. I do have another question. Is there a simple way to determine if my problem is in the steering valve or if the problem is down in the steering motor at the pedestal? What part of the country are you located? Thanks a lot for your response.
