1966 John Deere 3020 gas with original hydraulic outlet. When connected to a John Deere 459 round baler, one of the outlets latches will move from the locked position to about 45 degrees. This limits but not eliminates the flow. I wrapped up 70 round bales yesterday, and 4 times I had to get off the tractor and re-latch the one outlet or the other (I notice the problem when the baler will now open and eject the bale or will not compress it).

What would make this happen? Is there a fix?
 
Well you can buy a whole bunch of parts and rebuild it or do like one or two of my tractors and wire the handle in place. I have a piece of fence wire with a loop that I slip over the lever when hooked up. Works fine but I guess you would loose the break away feature if an implement came unhooked by accident. Tom
 
Have you tried a new male coupler tip?

SOMETIMES a worn or damaged tip will cause the problem you are having.

NO guarantee of a fix, but worth trying, IMHO.
 
Order two of these they are updated and they hold the lever
latched .

Several things can add up to cause this, and wear is the prime reason,,1-the cam lever gets worn flat where it rubs the bottom of the coupler housing 2- the groove in the housing gets worn where the cam lever detents into. 3- the cam lever spring in under the round dust cover gets flattened out.. 4- the cam lever spring E-clip can pop off..5- the balls in the coupler get chewed up and won't grip the hose end.. 6- the hose end gets chewed up where the balls grip it. 7- too much pull tension on the implement hoses.
