desparate need of a steering arm for JD 302A

Good evening. Boy, I sure hope I can find the part I need here on Yesterdays Tractors. I have an "antique" (1974) JD 302A, which I believe is equivalent to the 3020. I need the steering arm P/N T34255, (sub listed is T54367). This is the 'J' shaped arm on the left side under the steering column. My 302A has power steering, if that is any help. This 'J' shaped cast piece is splined to the cross member inside the hydraulic oil reservoir. This arm, item #12 on page 50-3 in the parts manual connects to the long steering rod going to the front of the tractor, connecting to the steering arms. I bought this 4 cylinder diesel loader tractor in 1993 and it has been a great little tractor. The 302A is the industrial version or the 3020 and is painted yellow.

JD tells me this arm is no longer available as a new part so sure am hoping I can find a used one here. I have already searched the web site and found nothing. The current one has been welded sometime in the past before I acquired the tractor. If anyone, anywhere, has any idea where a good used can be found I'd sure appreciate it. I may have to attempt to have it welled again, if I can find a good cast welder. My name is Richard (Dick) Warren and I live about 210 miles south of the windy city, Chicago. There's got to be a salvage yard somewhere, my next option.

If you painted your 302A green, it would basically be a 1530. The 2010 and 2030 you mention both have four-cylinder engines. Your rig has a three-cylinder.

I haven't figured out how to reply to post yet on YT. I see I can type here and hopefully JDEM will get it. Yes, I went to eBay after seeing your post of it and bought it today. Sure am glad I rejoined YT and got a quick response. Yes, mine is the fine spline. So, as you say, it must have been changed at some time. Right? Anyway, I should have it by June 17th according to the seller. It will be a great bargain as JD told me IF one was available new, it would cost $900. Wow! Anyway, I sure appreciate the help. And I sure did make a mistake in quoting the equivalent model to the 302A is the 2030. Did I get it right this time? The 302A loader is a heavier duty loader with the bucket arms going all the way back to the rear axle. Again, thanks one and all. I sure do appreciate it all. Now if someone could find me a Haban sickle bar mower for my Gravely 18-G lawn mower. Or does YT deal with mowers/garden tractors?

I am pretty sure when I bought my last new one aftermarket, I had the choice of the original style with four splines, or the new replacement fine-spline. Deere stopped making the four-spline and makes you get the fine-spline and replace other parts to make it fit. Maybe your's was already changed over by someone. The fine-spline is Deere part # T54367. Like this one on Ebay.

Sorry about quoting the wrong equivalent model to my 302A. I had it backwards. Yea, the 302A is equivalent to the 2010, right?

Anyway, I'd be glad to purchase the steering arm from YT. But I searched the YT parts for this model under "steering parts" and found nothing. So, where do I go from here on the YT site. Guess I can call their 800 number. I did find one on eBay. Mine is the fine spline type arm. I was a member of YT years ago but forgot to update my email. Consequently, lost my membership because I no longer have that old email address. HELP! My 83 years of age don't help much, hi hi

302a has nothing in common with a 2010 either. If you have a three cylinder engine, it is similar to a 1020 farm tractor or a 300 industrial wheel tractor. 300, 300B, 302, 310, etc. are all built on a Dubuque/Manheim type tractor format. The 3020s you mentioned earlier is a Waterloo format. 2010 I guess is Dubuque but an oddity and the 1010/2010 run of tractors shares near nothing with anything else. I am not even sure WHERE idea the 1010/2010 series came from. Early ones share a lot of parts with 2 cylinder tractors.

Why not buy the new arm here and support this place? I got two new one here and YT price was a good as any other place. You need an arm listed for a 1020, 2020, 300 or 400 industrial, etc. Just make sure you get the one with the correct splines (course or fine).

Welcome to YT

302A is no where close to being similar to a 3020 but is similar to a 2030.
As wore out stated there should be several used T34255 steering arms available at salvage yards because that steering arm fit many different model JD utility tractors.
