I am in the process of restoring a 1956 John Deere 60 so I ordered and recieved a after market water pump with a bypass hole in the pump housing . In the box was a small shaft with a small spline machined on the end a o-ring with no instructions on how to install. Looking at the housing and shaft the assembly does not look realistic, any instruction help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Put the oring in the groove of the hole, lube oring with a little silicone, now insert shaft splined end first into the hole as far as you can until it bottoms out, now tap on the end of the shaft with a hammer to seat the shaft into housing. Done.

4 years ago i put one of the aftermarket water pumps on my 60 just like the described. If you follow the directions Matthews(not sure on spelling) gave it'll work just fine. Haven't had a moment's problem.
