'50 JD B Tranny Oil Recommendations

What reasonably priced transmission oil would you suggest I use in late model JD B.
B had 80w90 previously and I am having difficulty sourcing it.
B will see light use only, no pulling or tillage.
I'm located in Ontario just north of NY State with temps ranging from -20's F to +80's F.
I understand lighter oils may pose a leak problem.
Thanks for your input, present and past.

There is no cheap good oil.
Hy-Gard JD20C works fine in the hydraulics, live pto and transmission. Some also use it in the power steering ..
Sometimes a pail of straight weight sae 50 motor oil is on sale. It is at least as viscous as 90wt gear oil. Same stuff as they use in two stroke Detroit diesels.

Any good auto parts store or places like TSC, Rural King, Menards, etc should stock it or order it for you in a 5 gal. pail. The trans takes 4-1/2 gallons.

Even NAPA has it here, though it's 33 percent higher in price than TSC.

Thanks for the responses guys.
My nearest JD dealer is over 1 hr away. Local Canadian Tire has "Certified" 80w90 for about $80. This was a hard worked family tractor that I'm just interested in getting running and painted up a bit. Not a show machine.
Good to hear from you BuickandDeere. We met last summer at NY 2cylinder show. Show was big disappointment.
However, we made up for it in Aug. by attending the Great Dorset Steam Fair in UK! 600 acres and 2 days.
Thanks to everyone for input over the past few years.
I enjoy this forum tremendously
