Output shaft

I pulled my engine 8n my 69 450 dozer and
noticed my output shaft broke. Can this be
changed without tranny taking apart also
where can I get one? The number I have i
can't locate one.T20780

(quoted from post at 15:13:07 05/22/20) guess I'm not sure the part number for it. The manual gives 4 different ones. I have the HLR tranny

T20780 you referenced is the input shaft for the constant mesh transmission, not the HLR transmission. Is this the shaft at the front of the HLR and the splines on it go into the clutch disc? If so it is the input shaft, not the output shaft. It also drives the reverser oil pump. I think it is part of AT21511 assembly they call U-joint for some reason. Read the headings on the pages, your need the ones that say (HI-LO-REVERSE TRANSMISSION) as part of the page heading.

Look at item 17 on this page.

Nortrax may be able to get an aftermarket one and related parts. Other than that I expect it is a salvage yard search. The reverser will need to be taken at least partly apart to change it, your service manual should have info.

You need to talk to Nortrax, they will have to answer that for you, I can only see what the parts book shows. It looks like they can get a "non-John Deere part" by with the part number AT21511U, when I was checking for AT21511. I took a guess that is the shaft you are looking for, so be sure you confirm I got the right one, before you order or buy.

Another place to check on for a used, is the fellow in Vermont who advertises on Craigslist at times. Search Craigslist (Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont) for 350C John Deere winch. His name is Mark if I remember right, he may have some used transmission parts to fit.

Thanks Jim. I must of broke it raming a
tree to try to unstuck my new steering
clutches I put in last year. Can't figure
why the froze up being under cover. The
luck I have
