Joel Sanderson, live D hydraulics

Joel,

I don't know why you've put so much effort into your hydraulics on your D. It's so simple!!

Oh my! That's a beauty, Brandon.

Once I thought I wanted a 30-60 Aultman-Taylor, and I figured I'd put hydraulics off the flywheel. I'd never seen someone actually do it though. Now I know it'd work! I'd have to
sell my house to pay for one though, and that wouldn't work. Boo-hoo. I'll stay with my D. Less soil compaction anyway. ;)

Looks like whoever had that D had a scary problem with backing. Yikes!

I sure hope so. I had to machine some parts for it, including the washer under the snap ring, since the original was welded along with the gear to the shaft, and I didn't know how thick it needed to be for the right amount of thrust clearance. I made seven, .040" thick through .100" by .010" and ended up using the .100" one. So at 6:15 last night I got everything put back together and the hood on, but it was raining so hard I didn't even start her up. I won't know if the system works until Thursday though, since I'm off work 'til then. I'm sure it will though. The distributor side was so leaky--both seals, the bearing as well as the O-ring that Wore Out pointed out to me--that it was obviously getting lotsa air. So I'm pretty confident it'll work this time. I'll try to get a picture of the 'ol girl in the field and stick up here somewhere.

Thanks for asking, Pete.
