4440 front tires 3 rib vs 4

Any thoughts on what tires to put on the front of a 4440. We currently have 4 rib and need to replace them. Do 3 rib turn better during tillage? pros or cons of either?? Thanks

I think the 3 rib will turn a little better in soft ground, yes. My 4040 had 3 rib on it when I bought it new, but I changed to 4 rib when they wore out. The 4 rib didn't rough up the hay fields so much when turning short with the haybine or round baler.

3 rib works a lot better in soft dirt they sink a little deeper than a 4 rib

3 rib were bad about splitting next to the center rib on heavier tractors.

For turning 3 will be slightly better, I use 4 ribs due more rubber longer lasting and excessive road travel. (per tire guy)

if its a loader, or fully weighted, or front hitch, or chemical tank, go 4 rib to handle the weight. If just a hay/utility/rake tractor, a 3 rib will turn better with less weight on the front, 3 rib goes away faster on the road, 4 rib is harder to follow a corn row for spraying or cultivating, especially if you have water marks.
