power steering arm travel 630 JD ?

Anyone know how much travel there should be in the steering arm on the 630 jd power steering valve ? Got steering valve off turning the steering wheel right to left it seems as though that arm total travel would be less than a eighth of an inch . Seems too little to operate the steering spool enough ? Thanks ,Marty

Are you having problems with the power steering?

To answer you question, the valve doesn't need to be moved much to do it's job, but I don't have an actual measurement/number for you.

When the actuating "helix" gets worn, chipped, or damaged that affects valve actuating "travel" and how the steering works, that's for sure.

I don't see any "travel spec" in the Two Cylinder Power Steering Manual, either

Here's what it DOES say:

HTH!

The valve arm full movement is about .020 either way. Most of the problem is the worm bearings are out of adjustment not
allowing the valve enough movement. If you have the JD SM 2050 Two Cylinder Power Steering Manual it will instruct you on
correcting this problem.

Thank you both for the help . Seems so small amount . Did nt want to go farther without asking someone . Makes quite a leaning job . I do hve the 630 manual, the 2050 manual and 630 parts book .Still a chalenge and someone with hands on experience still a big help . Thanks
