JD 1050 Loader Mounting

I have the loader mounting bracket off the bottom on my grandfathers 1050. While working on it I noticed one bolt broken so I tore it down to remove the broken bolt. I was surprised to see the mounting plat to the bottom of the transmission was shimmed with two washers on the left side. This seems strange to me because a flat plate against a flat transmission housing seems like it would be stronger. I was looking for parts breakdowns to see how it was mounted originally but no luck. Anyone have any experience with a 1050 John Deere loader?

model 80 is the loader for the 1050
see item #3 at top of page, it's a shim, quantity used was as required, my guess is the outer case of the tractors had some imperfections

Thanks, I will reassemble as it came apart.

Was able to get it back together yesterday. The $13 snap on left hand drill was well worth it. I didn t even need to use the fancy extractor I bought.
