Which one of these tractors is
more dependable Im not looking
to work it just pull a wagon,
trailer or light disk some time.

Neither but that is not what you asked. Seems like 8430s are slightly more reliable around here mostly because the 466 was more reliable and didn't have the power to tear out the drive train.

Operate one of each before deciding which to buy;

The 8630, with it's extra 153 cubes is a lot more fun to start off with a load, or in road gear.

The basic tractor weights are not greatly different, and with the little one you've really got to rev the engine up and get some good turbo boost going for starting off with a load or in D1, the big one has considerably more low end "grunt", but (of course) needs RPM's and turbo boost to pull a heavy load, as well.

When worked hard all the time for hundreds and hundreds of hours a year the 466 would likely last longer than the 619, but if you get a reasonably good tractor and use it as you describe either should give you years of relatively trouble free service.

The drive train is the same in both,,and both can break the crankshaft if they ossolate to hard against the stops...the 84's are very under powered,,and when they get turned up to help with the low power the over fueled engine won't deal with it well. For what your going to use them for ether will be okay.

I still have an 8430 that gets limited use but it has been trouble free for the last 25 years. My neighbor I farm with had an 8630 that his grandpa bought new and it seem like I was always working on it. Glad when he traded it off! The 84vis a little underpowered but I think that's what keeps it together. I think my 4840 will out pull it but the extra traction is nice in wet years like last year.
