Picked up a 70

I bought a pretty straight and complete 70 a couple weeks ago, now need to get it home. PO's moved it a while back and say the rear wheels wouldn't turn, so they carried it with a big forklift. The clutch mechanism is stuck, lever won't move so need to free up the clutch. Also seems like the brakes might be stuck, pedals move but don't feel like the shoes are moving, so I'm thinking just pull the brake assemblies off, then with it in neutral it should roll and I can winch it on the trailer. Hoping nothing else is keeping it from rolling- the PO's know nothing about poppers, may have had it in gear or? Has just a little evidence of moisture in one cylinder, so will fill it full of juice and let it set a while, pull valve cover and make sure valves are free etc. Clean looking tractor, WFE, and came cheap- fingers crossed

I went to a large antique tractor auction near Syracuse Kansas a few years ago where many of the tractors had set for several years and were stuck. I arrived a few days in advance as did many
others . In the days prior to the auction many of the stuck tractors were freed up just from guys gently rocking them back and forth. The tractor I came home with had a stuck clutch (70D std).
Soon as I got home I opened up the clutch to see that it was full of dry rust from the dry climate of Kansas. Simply needed to dismantle and clean things up to get it going. You could have a host
of other issues depending on the conditions there. Maybe it is frozen and locked with ice or brakes set and rusted in place.

Yep, the clutch cover had been taken off about a year ago, so a little crusty in there. Linkage won't move, maybe held by stiff clutch. Between freeing the clutch and brakes, hopefully the old biddy will roll

Had a 70 clutch apart earlier this year, and all of the dogs, pivots, and adjusting studs were stuck. A little heat and a wire brush and was good to go. Along with new facings.

OK, went up and pulled the brakes out, as I suspected they were rusted solid. Went into the clutch, same way since the dust cover has been off it. Got it all apart and free, but the clutch is in bad shape. Winched up on the trailer, and sitting in the driveway now

Got some brake fluid in the cylinders, something I have had very good luck with- I know there are many favorite potions out there. Also like Kroil. Hopefully she will come loose, and found the coolant drain plug by the toolbox, so hopefully no major problems except been sitting a long time and needs TLC. Would look good sitting next to my SMTA
