2150 john deere

John deere 2150 sounds like has a bad bearing in high speed only after a new clutch was put in . I don't know if the clutch had anything to do with it?Any one have any ideas,Thank You. It growls in high with the clucth out and out of gear, no growl in low.

he flywheel - pilot bearing and clutch turn as a unit when clutch is out.

Ditto noise not caused by faulty pilot brg

Sorry no idea. If it growled in both low & high range I'd guess faulty trans input shaft brg BUT it only growls in high range so that guess would be incorrect.

[Finally got time to work on john deere 2150 .Took all eleven bolts out of transmission case to clutch housing unhooked every thing I could see have it blocked up and floor jacks and it will not come apart .What am I missing. Thanks3:42:53 :roll: :x

If all bolts have been removed then dowel/bushings are probably stuck. I only counted 8 bolt/studs in parts catalog including the 2 accessed by removing shift cover but I must be overlooking some bolts.

Shop manual says two at rear of shift cover under the mounting flange then remove remaining nine and then separate.
Thanks. Some screws showed a little rust on them. That might be the problem with the dowel pins.

Tractor came apart this morning with the help of p b blaster and chain puller and slight tapping on housings.

Yes fun has already started cannot remove bearing quill all bolts out will not budge does the special nut have to come off. There is slight back and forth movement in the shaft that goes to clutch.
:x Is the special nut right hand thread.

I&T shop manual does not explain much about front bearing quill. :x

Adjusting shifters dropped 6mm allen wrench into trans sump tried to retrieve it with wires and magnets cant see it ,does it have to come out or will it be picked up by gears

It is risky to leave it in there. You may flip your tranny easily with a cherry picker, by rotation around rear wheels and get it out?
