4030 trans pump

I hate to give John Deere almost $1300 for a new housing & gears for a transmission pump. All State says they?re out of the aftermarket until June and
I?ve tried several used ones but as Tim Sweeney so appropriately put it, ?already have a used one?, so I sent them back. It?s for a 4030 quad range part
no. AR62937 housing and gears are AR61290. Maybe someone out there has a really good used one without wear grooves in the housing & gear
bushing or knows a source for aftermarket. Tim?s been a lot of help, preciate it, on this gear train rebuild.

IMHO viewing JD parts for 4030 trans pump parts is very confusing. I didn't locate at trans pump at A&I

AR61290 subs to RE573184 GEAR, TRANS OIL PUMP IDLER,W/BSHG ADD 302.00 USD & RE573181 GEAR,TRANS OIL PUMP ADD 244.55 USD

Then I think one also needs AR62937 BODY,TRANS OIL PUMP,WITH PIN ADD 591.15 USD

I needed a baler needle for new Holland baler last year couldn?t buy one at any price finally almost a year later they are available again. I bought one so Jon would have a pattern to reshape the old ones he was pretty close the first time with no pattern . I guess it depends on how long you can wait for the part

When your searching on the internet for a part a lot of times it's best to use the old part number...or the casting number..

I diagnosed a 4430 with a bad trans pump, I did the job at the customers place and once I had the old one out I had a sick feeling. The old pump showed no signs of wear and looked as good as the new one and they pointed it out to me also. We got the new one put it, with them not so happy, but the tractor was a whole different machine with the new pump. So don't bother with a used pump!! No matter how good it looks!!

Yep, for a good machinist. I remember our
old friend FIT doing it. He took so many
thousandth off the housing to make it
flat again and then took the same amount
off the gears.

A worn gear pump can not be rebuilt,,even our old friend FIT can not make up the difference in the wear to the bore or the gears...

It s relatively easy to resurface the ends of a gear type pump to restore proper clearances. On most pumps it s a high school level surface grinding job.

The issue arises when the radial clearance between the housing and the gear teeth get excessive, depending on the design and part availability it can be a complicated repair.

It s kinda funny, someone called me about the same thing last night.

I think that is one of the things Deere updated . They have a pump that will flow a little more oil then the original. It is suppose to make up for wear in places that let a little oil flow to fast then it makes hydraulics slow down. It is called an UpTime kit. and they do work.

It appears that an uptime oversized pump is available . I agree that in this circumstance the old pump should tossed in the trash if a new pump could be sourced .
I had erroneously taken it as there are no new pumps on the market . And a patch up fix was the only option .
