I have a John Deere generator bracket B2113R with a Delco Remy generator #1100046 attached-- I believe the bracket is for a John Deere B but the parts book for the B does not list that generator. What tractor used the 1100046 generator?

The Service Manual for John Deere Electrical Systems (SM-2029) does not show any John Deere application (at least up through 6/59) for generator # 1100046. It apparently wasn't originally used on any John Deere. They do show 1100027, 1100038, 1100048, then 1100309 and larger numbers as used on Deere equipment.

Thanks for that information. I have been told that it fits an Allis Chalmers so am trying to track that down. If it does fit an AC I don't understand why it is on a John Deere B bracket. Thanks again for your input.

Generators are pretty universal, 6 volt is 6 volt, as long as the bracket fits and it's spinning the way it likes it should work. It may put out more amps or fewer amps then the one Deere wanted but close enough to keep a farmer going

You must have a styled B part book as I only have the unstyled book, so page 40 is not about electrical in mine. I will order a styled B book. What is your book showing on page 40?
Thanks for your help.

Farmers "back in the day" were resourceful, they had to be.

WHY limit your wondering to just tractor applications?

MANY MANY Delco generators easily interchange, and got swapped around.

Nothing unusual. If they were the type that used a voltage regulator, it was best to keep the correct regulator with them when swapping.

That being said, I have some old data that shows your 1100046
was used on certain Chevrolet and Studebaker cars, and eventually subbed to a Delco 1947580.

Certainly could have been used on certain tractors from the era, as well.

That is very interesting. I think farmers were very resourceful and I never even considered that you could use an auto generator on a tractor. Thanks so much for your research and knowledge.
