5055 block heater?

2011 5055 has a air heater to use in cold weather. I don?t find it to be very efficient. Short of cutting a water hose, is there any way to install a 120 v block heater? In the past I have seen ads for a flat unit that glues on to the oil pan that heats the oil. Since I live in SW Wash and it hardly gets below 20 in the winter, maybe I should just grin and bare it. (I use 15/40 oil) thanks, Wayne K

We have a 01 JD 4600, with a Yanmar engine, and I ordered it with a block heater, I also put a magnetic heater on the oil pan in colder weather, and it always starts immediately. I use the magnetic heater because I also use 15-40 year around, and I worry that the block heater will not warm the oil very much. I have started it down to -20 F after plugging it in for 4 hours, it also has the intake air preheater, witch works well. It would probably start well below 0 without any preheat but I don't do that to my engines. Maybe your air heater is not working? You could probably install a block heater.

If your only going to use a magnetic, I would get the biggest one, (300). I have a 200 and after 2-3 hours I can still hold my hand on the pan so they don't burn the oil like some say.
