My Father (Kenneth DeHaven)owned and operated a small dairy farm outside Springfield MO in the town of Fairgrove MO. He operated the farm with three tractors one being a John Deere GM. I would appreciate any information as to the location and possible purchase of the tractor. The tractor was sold approximately 1967-1968. The purchaser drove the tractor from the farm. The engine had the gas conversation with higher compression pistons and water pump added.

at least you are piecing together the puzzle, great start...that said, i would reach out to 1206SWMO maybe on tractor tales and see if anything you know of the story jogs something in his memory, very sharp and nice guy.

I spoke to my 87 year old father today. He stated the purchaser of the John Deere GM lived in Brighton MO. If still living would be in his late 90's. As I stated prior the purchaser drove the tractor to the Brighton MO farm from Fair Grove when purchased. The tractor was the first John Deere GM delivered to the Springfield MO John Deere dealership after World War Two. It was in a parade to welcome troops home from the war. I think the tractor would be a 1946 model John Deere GM.

Again thanks for all the feed back. This is a great forum for John Deere Collectors.

Just outside Springfield there's a Ozark Steam Engine Association meeting grounds, and a monthly meeting in Springfleid. Big yearly meeting, Big group, men and women, you might google the group, contact them. The group consists of both lots of steam engines and LOTS of vintage tractors.

Waterloo,

there is also the G registry on this site as well. I kind of wish this was consolidated better, but at least its another place to look.

You dont have a name of the person who bought it? was it bought on an auction or private sale?
Im afraid thats gonna be tougher to find than the 1950 G i am looking for....I do wish you luck on that.
There is a guy on here, 1206SWMO, i think he is from that area, he knows about a LOT of tractors in that are it seems like, you might post on the tractor tales and ask for him, might need to provide a name, more exact location etc etc, he might be your best bet, he is a very nice guy.

Without a serial number, it'll be a challenge. You might take a look at the link below - it's a current registry of known existing model "G" tractors that was started a year or two ago by those who belong to the "John Deere Model G" site on Facebook. There are roughly 1400 tractors listed and most identify the owner and location.

I have a G with High Compression piston and a gas manifold. The changes bring a G to life. We have used the tractor on the farm for years. Does a good job. Thanks for the reply.

No I do not have the serial number of the tractor. I understand that would help. If you think you know something about a tractor in the area please let me know. My father might be able to ID the tractor.

What about contacting your John Deere dealership directly? If the one he bought it from is still in business you can inquire if they have an archive of old sale records associated with your father's name and an approximate date. That's where I would start and maybe you can grab a serial number if they have it.
