51 Model M hydraulic pressure line leak at pump.

Next project, Slow leak so tried tightening the nut at the pump and
made it worse. Should have left it alone but hate stuff leaking on garage floor.
Removed the line and see a hairline crack at the base of the inverted flare or double flare so might call it, magnifying glass found it.
Would it work if cut this damaged inverted flare off and put
a standard single flare on it ?

How about getting a 90 degree bend crimp-on hydraulic hose end that fits, and cutting off a section and brazing it to the original line?

If done neatly, the repair would be hard to spot.

There's several listed on eBay but due to
the length shipping is pricey. I like
Bob's idea if you or a friend can braze
but you would need a straight fitting.

Mine is doing the same thing, was
Leary of taking apart since I don't
have a rebuild kit on hand. Someone
before has made a repair to high
pressure side by replacing entire
fittings and line with new hydraulic
hose.

I found a new dash to pump high pressure line ,guaranteed, its in the mail.
Leary of buying anything used w/o being able to look it over.
A bit more than I wanted to spend but with snowplow season on the doorstep just want to be done with it hopefully.

Does anyone know if that high pressure union coming out of the pump can be removed without taking the pump off. Its sits pretty tight to the block. Not sure if the hex head hits the block when it turns and the suction line is in the way to try and turn it. I'd rather not remove the suction line to find out if someone knows.
Thanks for all the input.

Both lines can be removed without messing
with the pump. I had both off at the same
time so I don't know if you can do just
one or not. It probably wouldn't be a bad
idea to go ahead and order a new suction
line seal from Deere and just replace it
too. Last I bought were about $5.

Update: Installed new pressure line (stainless i think, not the original copper-nickel ?)from dash to pump. The new pipe was bent in the wrong direction horizontally the last few inches nearest the pump so had to play with that to get it close enough for the nut to grab the threads at the pump union fitting.
Snugged it up tight and it holds fluid .No leaks. Happy
On the other side of the tractor I replaced the sediment bowl assembly because the shut valve was worn out beyond repair and couldn't find that particular part anyway so bought the whole thing.
The outlet fitting was different so just installed my old 90* fitting and was good to go . No leaks there anymore after tightening the nut on the shut off valve side. Happy
Also the power needle on the carb doesn't leak anymore after
installing the new packing washer. Happy and ready
to plow snow.
Thanks for all the help.

Aftermarket product with the horizontal bend 3" from the pump
going in the wrong direction. Lucky i got it to work.
That is all I am going to say about it .
