Crazy 4020 gasser

Hi all, new here and I m having an issue. Last winter i put a new ma carb on my 4020 gas and it never ran better. When I was using it it s just quit like someone shut the key off and there it sat until this spring.The only thing I could find was a broken spring that connects the throttle to the govoner under the dash.i finally got it to start again but hardly runs good enough to drive it. I replaced the points, condenser,coil,rotor and battery, even tried to adjust the carb nothing makes a difference. I was planning to put a better starter and electronic ignition in it if I can get it to go again! Ha ha. Anyone ever tried replacing the troublesome. MS carb with a smaller one? I was reading someone put a MM U carb on one with a little mod. I only use it for yard work and snow removal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a piece of crud got in and stopped up a passage in that new carb. Check fuel flow also.

Yep. I ve even cleaned it. I also replaced the fuel pump and Flow is good. It was running great even on the ethanol gas they sell these days. So I didn t think that would be the issue at all.

Sounds like you need to find out if it is a spark issue or carb. issue ? If you can get it running again I'd hook a timing light up to it and watch it as it dies to see if it still sparks.
I got feed up with the MS carb. and put a cast iron zenith on mine.
