John Deere GP

I am looking at a 1930 GP to purchase. the owner says it is leaking oil out the clutch pulley and the flywheel. It is not running now so I can't tell exactly what is going on. I assume it is the oil seals at the end of the crank. Any suggestions as to the problem and solution would be appreciated. Want to know how much of a job it would be to fix. Thanks,

There are no seals on the crankshaft of a GP. Check for overfill of crankcase oil, fuel in the oil, maybe the main bearings need adjusted. Corwin Groth at Tractor Trauma Center in Eldridge Iowa will machine the oil slinger behind the flywheel for a o-ring type crank seal.

Got one here that is looking for a new home also.

I would adjust the main bearings and crankshaft end play. The oil slinger behind the flywheel can be sealed to the crankshaft with a thin layer of high temperature silicone.
