Maybe a little oversimplified but how can I know if a specific JD model line was built abroad, say India vs. manufactured in USA or Poland? My 5045D is a lemon and was made in India.

Some say built in usa.they omit but parts made globaly.thats same tractor we use.troublesome too.luckily 3pt needed adjustment.we were told hyd pump is obsolite, have to break in too just to install new pump.sad jd went the cheep route

VIN is standardized and will tell you country of manufacture in 1st character.

A lemon can be made anywhere and by any manufacturer. It all mostly depends on the engineering, quality control, demands and specifications of the manufacturer.

You can thank kubota mahindra tym and the other cheap made junk for the poor quality India made tractors . John Deere wouldn?t have to even sell the junk if people didn?t only shop on price so now they have to build and sell something to keep up with all the junk on market in order to sell tractors

Tractor Data usually says, not sure how accurate it is. Our JD 4600 (2001) is probably the best tractor I have ever had anything to do with. It has a Yanmar engine, but I think a lot of the rest of it was made in the states.

I don?t know if any are or aren?t I?m stating the
simple fact that the reason the economy built
tractors being sold by John Deere is to compete
with junk made by other companies for people who
want the green tractor but don?t want the green
tractor price . Will the salesman tell you that ? No
why this here tractor traces its roots right back to
old John himself

I happen to own a '11 model 70 HP Kubota that I classify far from JUNK with 1600 trouble free hrs on it.

I suggest you read some tractor reviews/discussion forums on newer foreign & domestic built JD tractors that refer to these JD's having a lot of electrical & mechanical problems. JD engineers still haven't determined a solution to the "cold start sensor failure"(RE503242) that's had history of failing since the late 90's.

"Deere built its first plant in the Horizon South Industrial Park in 1991. The factory built its 300,000th tractor in 2000, the year before Deere opened a second Grovetown plant to build higher-horsepower models. The facility?s millionth tractor was produced in 2015."

Jim i wouldn?t buy one if I could John Deere or
otherwise As far as 1600 hours I guess that?s good
for an overbuilt lawn tractor but call us back in 53
years and several turns of a 10,000 hour clock and
see if you still feel the same way.

I definitely wouldn't buy any tractor that has an engine past a Tier ll. I'll bet JD corporate people don't classify Kubota tractors as overbuilt lawn tractors but more than likely their ""worst nightmare""!

Can confirm...
Old Kubota tractors just keep running. Their biggest enemy in my line of work (industrial/commercial) is rust from salt and (lack of) owner maintenance. The new Tier IV are a PITA, but work decent. The important thing to remember for any Tier IV machine is minimal idling and run them full throttle when using.

If that kubota is John Deere?s worst nightmare were
in a lot of trouble . I?ve ran kubotas they are a light
built lawnmower at best I?m glad your happy with a
whopping 1600 hours . Like i say call back in
10,000 hours of actual farm work plowing disking
and heavy work not just a chore tractor

You can believe what you choose but JD & some of it's products are far from the same quality they were when I was employed by a JD dealer back in the 60's through late 80's. I've owned a 4255 since '93 that has over 11,000 hrs on the hour meter.
