I have no power to the ignition switch on my 4020 it?s a 71
model straight shift 12 volt with 2 6 v batteries, have power at
starter but none to alternator, and none to fuse under left side
of cowl, I?m not sure where else to look?

There's a multi-pin connector in the wiring harness under the back of the hood that commonly fails.

I pulled both connectors apart they both look good put them
back together and the same thing I don?t know where I?m
losing my fire at

How can I jump start this tractor to get it in the shop, can I put
hot wire to the diesel pump and short out at the starter to get it
moved?

I'm not expert on a 4020 diesel, but there shouldn't be any wire to the diesel pump as that is just mechanically driven by the engine.

For jump start just connect across the 2 batteries assuming you have a 12 V Jump Start unit. I'm surprised you have two 6 V batteries. I thought 4020 diesels all have two 12 V batteries in parallel. (But as I mentioned I'm not an expert on 4020 diesels)

If there are two 6 V batteries in series, they most likely are one on the left and one on the right side battery cases and that could be a bit harder to get your jump cables connected.

I also have 71 4020. I am no expert but can't see why putting 12v to the fuel shutoff and jumping the solenoid wouldn't get it running. Make double sure it is in park before trying to start it.

After checking every wire and plug on the tractor I pecked on
the solenoid not the one on the starter but the one above and
behind the starter mounted in small metal box, it has 2 large
post and 2 small post on it, so what all does this do? Thanks
again for all you guys input trying to help

Ditto but be very careful when shorting across solenoid connections so as not to start engine with trans in gear.

The starter relay above starter is designed that when ign switch is turned to start position this sends more volts to starter solenoid "S" terminal for better solenoid operation.. Check to be sure this relay is getting ""sufficient ground connection"" for ideal operation.
