Not common but I have seen 4420's and 4400's fitted with HRWD. Pretty sure Mud Hog offered a kit for JD combines lacking hydrostatic drive.

I have a friend in Door County, WI. who also had one on his 4420 years ago. They are after market units I think made by "Mud
Hog". Not quite sure how they work as they have a separate hydro-pump to to drive the unit. There are a few around but not
very many. He said it really worked good in muddy corn fields. Al

It?s probably the same one. I purchased this 4420 from a farm in Vermont, but it originally came from Wisconsin. The company that they purchased it from was Wenger Implements. It?s in really good shape. They were using it for bio diesel but that market crashed and they preferred an old Massey Harris instead . I bought it because it was well maintained and I live in the Catskills in New York. You need 4 wheel drive. It also came with two heads a 454 Row crop head which I have no use for and a grain head.

It could be possible. I did not really know this person until I retired in 2002 and started hobby farming. I met him at our local elevator. It was a year or two after that I told him I had bought a 4420 for my hobby farm. He said he had a 4420 with 4-wheel drive until he got a JD 9410. He told me his 4420 went to someone near Madison, WI. If and when I see him again, I will ask him which which implement dealer might have had it. Small world. Al
