Tractor info

I have a tractor that I would like to fine out more info on it like where it was made and ship to. I Remember that john deere use to do it but also quit doing the research on them I heard and would like to find out more on this one I have. Thanks

O k it is a unstyed L ser number is 621557 on it and the tag has not been change but talking to some people there saying that is looks and has styled parts on it an should be a styled tractor instead of unstyled. Also they said that it looks like they went to a lot of work on it to make it look like a unstyled L. I would like to try an find out kinda on it. I don't see any marks on the tag area or it not look to be ever change. Went I can figure out on how to post some pictures I will. Iv been told that with all the work that was done they could of bought a unstyle L instead of doing all this. I see that some of it looks kind like the 39 l I have and the other things like a unstyled one. Thanks for any help guys.

So I will take a stab at helping and maybe Chris in CT can chime in. The unstyled L has pedal brackets on the frame that were unique for the unstyled L. Also radiator mounts and the rear engine mounts were unique. If I remember correctly some of these mounts also had casting numbers on them. also, the casting number on the rear end can at least help narrow it in and some Unstyled L tractors had a date cast in the rear end where your right heel would be when on the tractor. I have in the past cut some of these brackets off of frames that were totally butchered, just to have, but it would be a lot of work to go through to revamp a styled L frame to look like an unstyled. Clutch pedals were unique to the unstyled L also. Not to mention gathering all the sheet metal, air cleaner, carb etc... for the unstyled would probably be very costly.

Two-Cylinder will do a serial number research, but they say there is no production information known to exist for the Model L prior to serial number 625000

According to "Tractor Data" that is a 1938. From what I know 1939 was the first year of "Styled" JDs, at least that is the case with my B. But that could be different with a L.

If the tag says it's a unstyled how can it be like a styled oNE not unless it was put together on a Friday to get one last done for that day. It's kinda neet the way it is but if it's a styled tractor with a unstyled tag that looks never mess with then really what is it. I can put it back to a styled tractor easy but it would be nice to have a unstyled. Right now I have this 38 then a 39 and a 40 and an La .
