hi, i bought a 52 AR this summer that i have to get running yet, it has a DLTX-71 carb on it. my book shows that carb for the A and by the serial number it shows my AR as it should have a DLTX-19 carb which appears to be specific to the AR/AO. just curious what the difference is between the 71 and the 19? i don't plan on looking for a 19 as long as it'll run on the 71, just curious whats different and which is the Superior carb and why.

correction, i was looking at the wrong serial number range for my AR #281xxx according to my book would call for a DLTX-41 which is also specific to the AR/AO models. so just replace 19 with 41 in my original post

What book are you looking in? PC675 shows DLTX-71 for A 584000+ and AR/AO 272000+ gasoline, and DLTX-72 for all-fuel.

According to SM-2024 AO/AR tractors used these carburetors by serial number:

250001-259999 DLTX-19 All Fuel
260000-271999 DLTX-41 All-Fuel
272000 and up DLTX-71 Gasolene
272000 and up DLTX-72 All-Fuel

If your AR is actually a '52 then it would originally have had either a 71 or 72 depending on the number of fuel tanks it had. Even if it originally was an All-Fuel a 71 will work fine as long as you run it on gas only.

my bad, im looking in SM2000 which was printed 2-15-49. it just shows 260000- for the DLTX-41 so i assumed it went till the end of production, I didn't realize it was printed before my tractor was made.

ok that makes sense now, i was looking in SM2000 which was printed 2-15-49 and has 260000- as the last serial range so i assumed it went till end of production not noticing the print date was before the end of production. it is a gas model so it does have the right carb after all.
