what is this stuff, manual says to put oil in crankcase and run for a couple of min then drain.
changing oil in my R.

thanks kurt

I use a cheap hyd. oil when I want to flush an engine. if you running for 2 minutes you sure don't want kerosene in it. knock out the brgs. pretty fast. the idea was years ago to use kerosene ? but just start and stop the engine.

thought it was kero but not going to run my motor with it in it. I just pour some diesel in the fill hole and let it run out.

thanks for replys

That manual was written before detergent oils were invented. If you have been running modern oil and draining when oil is hot you will be fine without flushing.

I still flush with diesel every so often with the 830, 820 and the 630. I put a couple of gallons in and let the idle for a couple of minutes slow and drain for an hour or so. Will never hurt them at an idle with no load. Did it 4 time in a row with the 820 when I bought it 7 years ago. It hadn,t been changed for years and I flushed it good and it runs great. Doesn,t use oil and makes the horsepower it should.

When I get a Minute I will post a picture from the
service bulletin John Deere posted in 1967 about
how to remove sludge from the engine
