I am rebuilding the front clutch pack in a early 3020. My original pistons use the steel ring. I am updating the pistons to the o-ring style. It looks like on the parts website, The later 3020s PTO clutch uses 2 different part number plates.I want to be sure im putting the correct plates in before i put it all back together. the sad thing is, i have done this before but i do not remember what i did for sure. Any knowledge will be great. Thanks

As stated you really need a JD service manual.
Regardless which piston that you are using, if you read the online parts manual it shows you that item #43, Clutch Plate, p/n R46391 "SUBS R80813 and (2) R57345 for this application ONLY".
So whether your tractor is above or below the serial number change over (091408 / 091409), they are telling you to use one of the thick plates (R80813) and tow of the thin plates (R57345).
