John Deere G Oil Bath

I have a 1950 John Deere G, I want to take the oil Bath out do I have to take off the cowling to do so? I have a John Deere B and with that I have to take off just about everything to get at anything. Thanks

If you mean the whole assembly and not just the cup, yea you gotta take off about everything except the right rear tire and I'm not sure about that. What do you need it off for? Maybe someone has a work around depending on what you're doing.
