If your low on fluid in the HLR
transmission will that cause it to not move
for about 10 seconds them move again then
keep repeating it. Or go up a small incline
and stop till I get back on flat ground?
THINK ITS TIME TO SELL THIS TO THE NAVY FOR
A BOAT ANCHOR lol

Maybe??? But you'd have to be real low I would think. What does it show on the dipstick?

There is an internal suction screen in the transmission. Have you checked that to see if it's clean? If it is plugged it will starve the pump.

Did you fix the oil leak you asked about? Could it be drawing air if it is low?

There isnt a dipstick. Wasnt there when I
bought it. And no I'm just trying to get
by 2 more weeks then tear hear down. But I
do notice that the fluid comes out like
milk color. Even after I drained it and
added new. Now the filter. Is that the
round cover on side that help on by I think
it was three bolts? I honestly think maybe
the front of tranny is cracked. Or the
bottom plUg on front of tranny pushed out.
Looks like a plug of some sort from the pic
in my manual cause just sitting not running
it comes out the hole n housing. I have a
8 gallon tray under it and have to dump
back in when I use it. Yes it's a basket
case. But does run and push good

Yes the suction filter/strainer is behind the cover held on with 3 (3/8') capscrews. Milky color is a sign of water in the oil. It could take several changes to clear it. Some have used a can or two of Seafoam hydraulic/transmission treatment to help get water out along with working it, so the temperature is up for a time to evaporate the water. Water could be getting in through the dipstick hole as you say it is missing. There is a used one (AT18907) on eBay for about 1/3 of the price of new. Bad cover gaskets can let water in as well.

You need a dipstick to be sure you have the right amount of oil in it. But if it is leaking out as bad as you say you can't win. If you run it low, you risk ruining the HLR clutches and other transmission components. If it is leaking out the weep hole in the clutch housing while setting, there is a definite problem at the front of the transmission.
