Looking to put a live pump on my 49 A. Was working when it Came off my 48 b five yrs ago. I'm hoping to replace all the the seals and orings before putting it on and it looks like deer still carries these parts. Can anyone tell me if each of the original seals now requires 2 of the modern deer seals (like is the case with many PTO seals) or is a single seal adequate? Also, do I need to purchase the a5272r gasket or can I simply trace and make this myself to save money. Finally, this pump came off a b with a wico c mag and is to go on an A with a wico xh mag. Is there any alteration required or should it slot right in? Thanks,

Pete

Looks like the drive side seal (single lip) is still available by the original part #, AA5613R, and the mag-side seal, #AA5616R subs to #AH21815, which is a dual-lip seal .310" wide.

Nothing special about the gasket, should be nothing wrong with making your own from material of similar thickness.

As to mag fitment, IIRC, the pumps directly accept "short lug" mags and need a spacer to accommodate "long lug" mags.

I don't know, offhand, the "lug type" of the two mag part numbers you posted, so I can't help you with that, but the answer will be obvious looking at the mags and where the need to go.

Long lug mags are specific to tractors 1939, right? Both my late styled tractors should have short lug mags.

Hey,
I changed the seals on a live pump awhile back. It does require two single lip seals installed in opposite directions. If you get it from Deere it comes with instructions. The funny thing is only one seal is in each kit. you'll need to order two. Good Luck!

I'm unable to address your above concerns with a definitive answer:

Mags have been dismantled, serviced, parts swapped etc, etc. You will know if the Mag is long lug or short lug when you have it in your hand.
