4010 pto gear


If you're referring to R&R of tiny pto speed shift pin then between clutch & trans case. If you split the tractor & you don't need 1000 pto speed I'd change pto to 540 speed only with larger diameter components.
 
You split it behind the clutch housing,,Use spacers to make up the difference of the gear.
 
Ok. Planning on doing this job later this week or weekend. Been putting it off but now that its hay season I realized how much I need another pto tractor around

Well when in a hurry that happens,always just start all bolts in stub shaft,wiggle twist it while pushing in,when gears are in mesh they slide home easy.had to change my 4010 seveeral times and the guy i got my 4010 from showed me what hurry does,he said tractor was 3 months old,that wasnt warrentied,lesson learned hard way
 

When I converted 3010/4010 pto to 540 only I utilized the largest bolt with lock nut that would fit in slot in pto drive shaft that tiny pin went through to hold 540 drive gear in correct location. It's been many yrs but I think bolt diameter was 5/16 or 3/8 diameter.
