Got a john deere mt with three point that is low on fluid. Book says sae 10w for hydraulic system but the only non detergent oil around here is sae 30w. I have hy-gard oil & ford 134d on hand but don't want to mess up the system. Any advice appreciated.

The 30wt non detergent works better and leaks less. If you haven't changed the oil lately now would be a good time.

"Book says sae 10w for hydraulic system"

We have bought 10W from Tractor Supply for many years for our M, MTs, and Model 40s.

Also use 10W in the power shaft clutch (PTO) for our Model 70s.

Now we buy five gallon buckets from a local wholesaler for about half the price.

Hope this helps.
