JD 1010W timing with electronic ignition

I installed electronic ignition in my JD but messed up the timing in the process and now it doesn't start. My directions for manual timing of the distributor saws to advance the engine slowly to the 26 mark seen in the viewing hole. Problem is I have only 2 marks, a "D/C" and "180". Can anyone enlighten me?

The 26 should definitely be there. It is just after you go past the 180 mark. Are you sure the flywheel doesn't have gunk or rust on it that could be covering the 26?

" It is just after you go past the 180 mark. "

ACTUALLY, it would be 154 after the 180 mark, and 26 before the "DC" mark!

To the "O.P", 26 would be the running, advanced timing.

For static timing to get it running, "TDC" is close enough!

Also, if you can get reasonably close figuring out the diameter of the flywheel, you can figure out how far "ahead" of "DC" mark the 26 mark.

For example, as a GUESS, 16" diameter flywheel X 3.14 = 50.24" circumference.

26 X 50.24/360 = 3.63".

Thanks again guys. I found the 26 mark after going around several more times. Now I have to see if I can get the Prestolite distributor adjusted correctly as my directions from here are for points, not electronic ignition and the directions that came with the electronic ignition assumed an engine was already running.
