There is a 4240 for sale near here.Ad says tractor has a synchro range trans with creeper gear.I know most of these tractors had either a powershift or quadrange. So my question is how common is a synchro with the creeper gear option.

Most likely it was a south tractor. That was a common set up in North and South Carolina and Georgia. You also sometimes found that in areas where produce was grown as a pea combine goes as slow as most tractors go. Not a common tractor in Iowa or IL but there are some around. Dad sold maybe 10-15 4230-4430's years ago used from NC that had that setup. Tom

This one is in eastern Oregon. So does the tractor use a dry clutch with this transmission?
Thanks Paul

No dry traction clutch on 30,40,50 or 55 series rowcrop tractors with QR or SR trans only hyd Perma-clutch

We have a 4430 with a creeper, it s our veggie transplanting tractor.
This is the only one I ve actually seen and I know of another one out on Long Island.
The creeper part goes in where the quad is normally. I have about 90% of one from a salvage yard for spare parts.

There was a 4230 with a creeper in it at the big sale at London Ohio years ago I drove it around a bit to see how slow it went.....it was very slow....

Not very common transmission package. I've got one here in western Oregon. It came off a vegetable farm down the Willamette Valley where they used it as a planter tractor. We like it, use it as our baling tractor.
