JD 3020/4020 Steering and possible updated column assembly?

Hey guys, I have not had the time to get my steering redone by Tim on the 3020. The column leaks and on occasion especially with some weight on the loader it don't want to turn at all. Its like hitting a brick wall in either direction. I can remove the weight and then I can turn with out issue. Is that the column (valve) or the motor down at the front?

Anyway I was scouring the web and I came across this thing. https://www.farmlandtractor.com/i-123658-jd4020pskit-john-deere-power-steering-conversion-kit.html Its a hydrostatic conversion for these older tractors. Its a bit pricey but is anyone using this thing?
 
I have seen those, and it looks like it would work well,,if you want me to re-build it for you it will be $380 plus shipping,, I have a deal with UPS they will ship one any where in the states for $80,, but it will only work for out going,, they weigh 74 lbs..I would be glad to do it for you..
 

I just keep looking at that thing because I can have it here waiting when I pull the other one out.

I have wanted to send it to you for some time. I just cant get enough down time to get it pulled out and sent to you. Also would be nice to have a shop to work in would make it all so much better. I have a 4020 in pieces working on it right now as well. I wonder if I could pull the column from the 4020 send it to you, put it in the 3020 when it gets back then send you the other one. That is a whole lotta swapping though.

Does it sound like my problem is the steering column or the motor though?, Id rather it be the column honestly, I really dont want to fight to get this loader off... holy moley what a mess that would be.
 
If you do go that route post back and let us know what you think. I to have seen them advertised and wonder how good they are. Several are listed on Ebay. Tom
 
Yes they will interchange,,and I understand about time involved, we all have to deal with the time and resources at hand, and I think it is the valve causing your problem,, and as always I glad to help when I can.
