How good is the 820 utility diesel and it has power steering
too, is the pto well built too? What?s one worth in good shape?

Location has a large bearing on value. I'll guess $3000-$4000 where I live. When 820's were new rarely did any require any repairs done while in warranty. PTO is a dependable dual stage clutch what JD called "continuous running" with most common problem will be a stuck clutch plate to pressure plate

Dad had a new one and even with fuel turned up never had any problems. Deere utility tractors are basically all the same and the basic tractors had few problems. There were some hyd issues but that was mainly tractor with hi-low shift and ind. pto. It is not often you find a 820 with power steering as most were sold on price and had few options. If in good condition I will say $2500-4000. I have had 4 or 5 different ones over the years. Tom

Tx Jim is it the same as the early 1020? I think the 820-830-early 2040 used a different hyd pump when power steering was added where the early 1020-2020 had the pump that ran off the cam shaft on the front of the engine. The dash colum might be the same as I never looked them up. Not sure myself? Tom

Thanks for asking after researching parts catalog early 1020 < SN 045,199 power steering although it's open center is different from utility tractors 820,830 & early model 2040 utilizing a different housing & hyd pump. I guess I was just concerned with 820 & early 1020 both being OC power steering vs being identically the same.
Thanks for correcting my mistake,Jim
