I inherited my fathers JD 1120. The Diesel engine starts every time within 3 to 4 revolutions any time. When using the tractor it has a sound between
1100 and 1600 rpms that literally is the worse vibrating sound I have heard. I think I know it is coming from the rubber intake tube slapping against the
underside of the hood. I took off the hood and ran the tractor and it does not make the noise but that rubber tube is pulsating more than I think it
should. It has done it so much that the tube has flattened itself out where it is slapping against the hood and will be replaced. I know little about Diesel
engines so here is my question. Is there a possible valve isssue issue causing that tube to pulsate like that or will the new tube take care of it? I don?t
want to start dumping money in it if the engine is showing signs of its age. Other than the noise the tractor starts and runs great but that noise is very
annoying when you don?t need to run the tractor at the optimum PTO speed. I will appreciate any comments, questions, or suggestions.
