John Deere D stuck rings

Some of you may remember this post from a while back. I thought I may have had stuck rings on a John Deere D. Well it was a valve so I sprayed the stem and tried to push the valve back with no luck so I started working on the back tires and let the valve soak. I was told they were aviation tires, B-29 bomber tires to be exact. I don't know for sure but they are sure heavy duty. They are cool but I think they would look better on an airplane. LOL. Anyway I have finally got that going my way. I found a set of 16.9 x 26 tires and rims and did a little fabrication. Finally got one done and on the tractor. I hooked it up to the H3 and had the wife pull me down the road. Yahoo!!!! the valve is now moving. I have a few more things to get back in place like the carb and mag then I'll be ready to fire it up. Thanks Guys. I'll keep you posted on the status of the D

Me too, I like the big two cylinders. This one sat in a shed for about 25 years. I think it was restored in the 80's from the looks of the restoration photos, (not pictured). I think it had at least 1/2 in of dust on it. The ratchet straps kept the tubes in the tires. 5 dollars at the car worked wonders.
