JD 125 lawn tractor

Not sure where else to post. Hydro forward works fairly well but after warmed up will slow down and not pull very fast on a grade. Same with reverse and it will not back up at all on grade after it has run awhile. Any ideas or where I could post?

There's a lawn/garden tractor-specific Forum lower down on the page.

Start by checking the drive belt and sheaves to be sure the belt and/or sheaves are nor worn enough for the belt to bottom and slip.

GOOGLE "JD 125 hydro problems" for all sorts of info and the (cheaply made) tufftorq hydros.

Sounds like the classic symptoms of those cheap made hydros when they go bad. I had one in an L130 took it apart and cleaned it and installed new oil 20w-50 mobil 1 . Seemed to help it. Parts for those hydro units are pretty expensive. All the info I found on line was outdated price wise.
Might be time to sell it while it still moves ? or find one with a blown up engine and do a swap.

Try blowing the Hydro clean and check the cooling fan,, also check the fluid level,,when they get a lot of crapp built up around them they get very hot,,and the fluid level can get low and cause the same issue,,just some things to think about.
