JD M PTO/RPM?

I am going to try a 5ft finish mower on my 1951 M. Basically just an excuse to to use it once and a while instead of looking at it sit in the barn. The finish mower is designed to be run at 540 RPM. At what throttle position will the M give me that RPM at the PTO? Full throttle? 3/4 throttle?

Thanks.

You might consider [i:654c4848f0]experimenting[/i:654c4848f0] with gradual throttle increases in second gear.

Hope this helps.

Hey,
Also, I would recommend an overrunning clutch if possible. That way when you push in the clutch to stop, the mower wont push you along. Good Luck!

No.

To my knowledge the 6ft finishing mower never "[i:654c4848f0]pushed[/i:654c4848f0]" the tractor when the clutch was engaged.

Glad you enjoyed the video.

Hope you enjoy your 51M as much as we have enjoyed ours.

Should have been 5ft finishing mower.

The ATH 720 was heavy and sometimes when raised would also raise the front end.
