4430 3 pt hitch

3 point has quit completely. SCV's test fine. Pull the rockshaft piston cover?

My one 4440 quit I had trouble getting it to go down then when I got it down it wouldn't
lift. It had a stuck valve . I put the lever in the raise position and lifted it by hand
clear to the top It let out a high pitched squeal and it has worked since then It also
did that one other time a long time ago.

Check to be sure nut(key 40) is tight & hasn't screwed out of valve housing a round or 2.

If nut is tight then I will suggest to perform the L/D mechanize adjustments outlined in JD 4430 tech manual.

Suggestions on where to start. Did act up a few weeks back with lift acting slow. Moved led settings to no avail. Linkage is good. Haven't checked star nut to make sure tight but saw no movement when raising and lowering leve.

???? What I stated would be 1 place to begin. Loose star nut won't really move but will affect operation of internal rockshaft control linkages. L/D internal linkage adjustments are important for correct 3 pt operation.

I would look for some thing in the operating valve,, I have found pieces of backing rings caught in them.
