John Deere alternative parts

Has anyone purchased parts (bearings) from John Deere that are listed under Alternative Parts? If so, how do they compare with the original part? I need several bearings and the prices for the alternative parts are considerable less than the listed John Deere part prices. ( More than 50% less)
Thank you.

Most of JD alternative parts originate from the company A&I that JD purchased several yrs back. I've used A&I parts with good results. It wouldn't surprise me if A&I parts didn't get packaged in JD logo boxes then sold for a lot more $$$$$

Bearings coming in a JD box will probably have the actual manufacture's name and number on them or looking at a parts book at the JD # you can cross them to the actual manufacturer's number with a cross reference chart. Most of the A&I bearings are Timken brand but in some #'s they will offer a cheaper version also.

Well I have purchased plenty of "genuine JD parts" that did not "fit and wear like the originals" either. So it is all a crap shoot.

I ordered the alternative parts. Go to pick them up, surprise, surprise, suprise! Price upon picking them up is 40% more than confirmation email. Plus, the bearing are made in CHINA. Never again! If you had good luck fine, but I will NOT do it again. Thankfully, it wasn't a huge $ amount nor in a very critical area. (PTO shaft bearings) AND they charged an addition $5 for freight and handling.

If you want alternative parts google the part number and go that route,, don't do it through the Deere store...And yes they will be from over seas, most of the time. Deere is a parts marketer,,they also are very profit minded,,and can care less about customer service..
