Plug wire orientation on 46 JD LA

Just recently replaced the plug wires on
a 1946 LA with a Wico magneto. Which
plug/ cylinder are the left and right
plug wires supposed to run to?

I dont understand how that correlates to the magneto, still just a guessing game?

You need to get # 1 cylinder at TDC on compression, where it needs to be when fired. Then remove the cap on the mag and see which wire post the rotor is pointing at. The one the rotor is pointing at is where the wire for # 1 goes. It is best to check this way not just stick the wires in because a photo shows them one way.

Pulley side fires first .

It is, I'll swap them out,is there a mark somewhere for which cylinder #1 is, not new to engines, but new to 2 cylinder John deeres.

My 1944 LA with Wico XH 909 mag. has the left wire going to the front plug. I'm pretty sure that is number 1 cylinder.
