A guy asked me if I would work on his 720 or 730 (I don?t remember which one). He spent $12,000 restoring it. He said diesel was leak in to the crankcase, what might be wrong?
Thanks.

If it was overhauled the engine "should" have had new seals installed on the low pressure fuel pump. If the pump shaft is grooved there are repo shafts iirc.
The high pressure line(s) between the injection pumps and the injectors could be leaking.
If the injection pumps were not rebuilt/resealed. They can leak,

1) seals on transfer pump are leaking, 2) injection pumps leaking fuel into the pump housing while running, or 3) pump/injector lines connections are loose and dripping fuel into crankcase. Any internal diesel fuel leaks ends up in the crankcase, diluting the oil.....hard on main and rod bearings.

I thought people would be happy to have the leak possibilities narrowed down to three.
Suppose 10psi of air could be applied to the transfer pump to leak check it .
