What does the linkage under the left side of the seat do? The 3 pt hitch control lever works, but only in the back portion of the control. In other words the lift arms drop when the lever is pushed forward of straight up. How can I adjust it to use the whole control lever? Are questions 1 & 2 related? Thanks for your help.

Are you referring to feed back rod(keys 40-44)? Is feed back rod attached on both ends? Feed back rod changes control valve spool position in relation to rotation of 3 pt rockshaft. Is spring present & attached correctly?

Rod 40-44 is attached, but the length
may be wrong because it was replaced
with a "hardware store" turnbuckle. Also
the spring is present, but again a
replacement that might be a little
softer than the original.

It would probably be in your best interest to acquire a JD 850 tech manual.
