4620 sump screen

I haven't had a sump screen out for 20 years . What I can't remember do they plug on the inside or the outside. I got a 4620 that hadn't run for 10 years when I got it it did not have any oil in the rear end. I put draft link seals and PTO seals in. I also overhauled the engine and put in a new clutch. When I had the pto shaft out I could see nothing on the screen on the outside. Like a dummy I did not take the screen out but got to thinking maybe the inside is full. The hydraulics chatter almost all of the time . Is it the inside that fills up ? Thanks Mike

Hyd sump screen collects debris if any on the outside of screen. Plug that one must remove is on LH side of trans case between hyd filter housing & rear axle trumpet. It has a square hole to accept 1/2'' break-over handle.

OK It had nothing on it when I had the PTO shaft out I could see it was clean. Also there
was no filings or sludge of any kind in the bottom of the rear end or around the filter
when I took that out.The front pump is noisy and the line as well as the three point
chatters. I have only run it an hour. After the first ten minutes it got better and
worked ok. Then I shut it off and restarted it and it got bad again. Where might be the
best things to check next Thanks

The check valve is allowing the oil to drain back into the transmission.

I'm thinking #11 but you might have to make sure. Maybe someone who has worked on one since I have
will help. The new one is grooved for an oring. Yours might be.

My buddy picked up a 4620 from Arkansas, the screen had been removed, he put one in, 200 hours later seems OK.
