I am mowing and the tractor just stops, then goes a few feet and almost stops and starts again. it does this all the way back to my truck. Now on the trailer it seams to run fine. The injection pump has maybe 800 hours since rebuild. Lift pump is original. If the lift pups fails it should start leaking is this correct? Will the injection pull fuel from the main tank if the lift pump is bad? Stan

Those lift pumps have internal check valves that can fail. And also as you said they can leak into the crankcase.

Yes, the injection-pump can pull fuel through a non-working fuel-pump. If you are sure your injection pump does not have a plug in the fuel-return circuit - I would suspect the fuel-fitting in the bottom of the fuel tank. It can get plugged pretty easy. There might still be a small fuel screen on it.

Forget the 800 hours on the repair injection pump. How many years ago was it done? Does it still have the plastic weight-retainer or was it converted to a solid one?

I hate to admit it, but it was a plugged fuel filter. I didn't think it had been that long since it was changed. Time fly's when you're having fun. Stan
