Made the modification as planned. Seems to work as I have half hour run time and NO drips or oil on side of gear reduction cover. One change: put the holes in the same circle as the other holes in the case. Where I put this one, the drilled hole exits thru a radius of cast. I had sharp drills and enlarged the hole in small steps so I got a good hole. Put some duct tape on inside to catch chips along with vacuum cleaner sucking. I also put 3ea 1/8 in holes in the bottom of the insert piece, which is spot welded to the larger piece.
The JB weld fills the space to the outside of the added hole.
To locate the hole in reduction gear cover, I made a copy of the hole layout on paper and transferred it to the cover. It could be done using the gasket as a hole has to be added to it but mine was in pieces, reused with RTV to seal it.
